Facebook buys Virtual reality Headset Company for $2 billion

Facebook has done it again: they have added another lucrative franchise to their list. This time it’s the Oculus Rift VR. Once the company asserted themselves as the number one social networking site, they looked to buy the big up and coming franchise. Here is a list of the companies which they have bought to date and how much they cost:

Instagram $1billion

Face.com $21 million

WhatsApp $19 billion

Titan Aerospace $60 million

There you have it, the interesting and odd list of purchases that Facebook has made. Although it’s yet to be released properly, the development kits have had 75,000 orders. People have already been able to try it with some youtubers posting gameplay with it.

Facebook’s boss, Mark Zuckerberg, said the Oculus could “change the way we work, play and communicate”. Though it’s quite a daring purchase due to the fact that it’s not out yet, some big games have pulled out of the Oculus Rift scheme and some game developers have not liked to the idea of it. So it’s a new dawn for Facebook and these new companies, as Facebook tries to reinvent itself.
